ForgotTheDonglePresenter
Phone in your hand. Previous and Next flip the slides, and a red laser dot follows where you point, also over full-screen presentations. No calibration needed.
Three ways to use it
Trackpad
The screen is a touchpad: tap to click, tap with two fingers to right-click, drag two fingers to scroll. Works under any ceiling and in the dark.
Slide experimental
The phone lies screen-up on the desk and you drag it like a mouse, while the front camera watches the ceiling to measure the movement. Turn it on in the app's settings under “Show experimental navigation methods”.

Install both apps
The app on the iPhone, the helper on the computer. Connect both to the same Wi-Fi.

Start the helper
Mac: a mouse symbol appears in the menu bar. Allow Accessibility (System Settings › Privacy & Security) so it can move the cursor, and allow Local Network.
Windows: an icon appears in the tray. When the firewall asks, allow private networks.

Pair once
On the iPhone tap “Tap to choose a computer” and pick yours. The computer shows a 6-digit code; type it into the phone. After that they reconnect on their own.

Point and click
Pick Presenter or Trackpad at the top of the app. In Presenter the red dot follows the phone, and Previous / Next change the slides.
If it doesn't connect
The phone says “No computer found”
Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi and the helper is running. Guest, university and company networks often block traffic between devices: use your phone's hotspot or another network. A VPN on the computer can hide it too.
The phone says “Local network blocked”
On the iPhone open Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network and turn on ForgotTheDongle.
Connected, but the cursor doesn't move
On the Mac the Accessibility permission is missing (the menu-bar panel shows an orange hint), or Pause is on.
No code window on the computer
It appears only after you choose the computer on the phone, and it can hide behind other windows. It expires after 2 minutes; choose the computer again for a new code.
The cursor drifts or jumps in Slide mode
Slide needs some visible detail on the ceiling. Under a plain white or dark ceiling switch to Trackpad; the app offers this by itself.
What the camera sees stays on the phone
Presenter and Trackpad don't use the camera at all. In the experimental Slide mode the images are analysed on the iPhone and thrown away. Only cursor movement and clicks travel to your computer, over your own network, signed with the key from pairing. No account, no analytics, no server of ours in between. Privacy policy
